overview

The river crossing for the wildebeest migration in Serengeti starts in June. This phenomenon continues until October, during which countless majestic creatures navigate the perilous waters of the Mara River in search of new pastures for grazing. This season, the northern Serengeti, specifically the Kigotende area along the Mara River, which serves as the boundary between the Serengeti and the Maasai Mara Game Reserve in Kenya, hosts the impressive wildebeest migration.

Witnessing their leaps into the river, skillfully avoiding crocodiles and confronting the fierce currents, showcases an awe-inspiring exhibition of nature’s untamed strength and allure. This event captivates visitors from around the globe, inviting them to experience its remarkable allure firsthand.

itinerary

Arrive in Tanzania at the Kilimanjaro International Airport, where you will meet and greet your Halisia Africa guide. Then transfer to Arusha for dinner and an overnight stay at Planet Lodge, Pazuri Inn, or any hotel of your choice.

After breakfast at the lodge, we will drive to Tarangire National Park, which is a 2-and-a-half-hour drive from here. Experience a complete day of wildlife observation in Tarangire. The park is known for its impressive herds of elephants and its ancient baobab trees. Furthermore, the park boasts a variety of African big cats and antelopes, such as eland, buffalo, wildebeest, impala, and Grant gazelles, along with giraffes, zebras, monkeys, and many other species. Travel to the lodge following an exhilarating day of game viewing. Indulge in a delightful dinner and experience an overnight stay at the Marambo Tented Lodge.

Following your brunch, you will travel north for an hour to Lake Manyara National Park. At the base of the Great East African Rift Valley, Lake Manyara National Park is home to a diverse array of fauna and awe-inspiring landscapes, including expansive verdant expanses, dense forests, and the extraordinary alkaline Lake Manyara. Expect to see a wide variety of wildlife, including elephants, giraffes, hippos, and the renowned tree-climbing leopards that are so well-known in this park. A wide variety of avian species, including large colonies of flamingos congregating at the lake, captivate birdwatchers in the park. Your stay (at Farm House Valley or a similar hotel) includes a dinner experience.

Explore the famous Ngorongoro Crater after breakfast. The entrance to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area is about a 10-minute drive from the lodge. After taking in the beauty of the tropical forest, you can head to Crater View Point, a truly breathtaking destination. The Ngorongoro Conservation Area boasts an extraordinary blend of archaeological treasures, diverse wildlife, vibrant communities, and stunning landscapes in Africa. People frequently refer to it as “The African Eden.” Nestled among a series of extinct volcanoes, the Ngorongoro Crater, recognized as a World Heritage Site, boasts elevations that surpass 3,500 meters (11,483 feet). The caldera boasts the title of the largest uninterrupted and unflooded caldera on the planet, featuring a diameter of 19.2 km (12 miles), a depth of 610 m (2,000 feet), and covering an area of 304 square kilometers (117 square miles). Ngorongoro is an expansive and remarkable volcanic caldera. The availability of consistent water sources, woodlands, marshes, and vibrant grazing land on the caldera floor enhances the variety and richness of the wildlife. The crater floor hosts the most significant concentration of mammals, including the big five, in a compact region. It is truly stunning. This is a remarkable chance to witness black rhinos and a diverse range of other endangered species, such as the black-maned lion. Following the wildlife drive, savor a delightful picnic lunch at Ngoitoktok Spring, beautifully situated within the caldera. Make the most of the remaining time with a game drive after lunch, then enjoy a late afternoon drive back to the lodge. Experience a delightful overnight stay and dinner at the Farm House Valley.

After a delicious breakfast, depart for the Serengeti, a world-famous national park that enthralls tourists from all over the world. As you continue to drive across the Serengeti, you’ll understand why the Maasai tribe gave it the name “Serengeti,” which translates as “the endless plain.” Get ready for an amazing wildebeest migration; a park’s emblem takes place in these months. This amazing adventure brings together numerous animals, including gazelles, zebras, and wildebeest. Because of the abundance of food in the park, it is also “the home of the African big cats (lion, leopard, and cheetah).” This park inhabits more than 500 bird species. In the evening, we will make our way to the Kati Kati Tented Camp for dinner and our initial overnight experience in the Serengeti National Park.

Following breakfast at the camp, embark on your first full-day game drive in the central Serengeti. Discover an array of wildlife, including lions, elephants, giraffes, and zebras, while you journey through the expansive plains of the Serengeti. Your knowledgeable guide will assist you in locating hard-to-find animals and share intriguing details about the ecosystem. Following an exhilarating game drive, you’ll head back to camp to enjoy a delightful late lunch and unwind for a bit. In the afternoon, consider joining a guided nature walk around the camp to discover more about the local flora and fauna. As the day winds down, savor refreshing beverages by the campfire and exchange tales of the day’s adventures with fellow explorers.

After enjoying breakfast at the camp along with a packed lunch, partake in morning game viewing in the Central Serengeti before heading to the Northern Serengeti. Experience the rich variety of plant life as you journey toward the Mara River. Observing the incredible migration of wildebeest as they traverse the Mara River is the primary focus in this region; this spectacle represents a unique wildlife movement that persists globally. The patterns of the rainy season influence the massive herds of wildebeest migrating between the Serengeti and Maasai Mara. At the moment, crocodiles are ready for effortless hunting, allowing you to witness them interacting with wildebeest in the Mara River, while others soak up the sun, digesting their substantial meals. Your three-night stay here will precede your return flight to Arusha.

After breakfast at the camp, enjoy games on the way to Kogatende airstrip for your flight to Arusha. Upon arrival at Arusha Airport, meet our driver and transfer to the lodge or Kilimanjaro International Airport for your international flight. You can combine this safari with a beach vacation in Zanzibar. Zanzibar Island, located in the Indian Ocean just an hour’s flight from Arusha or Kilimanjaro, boasts the world’s most beautiful and unique white sand beach. After a long safari, you can go swimming and relax while stretching your back and waiting for your flight home.

WHAT OUR CLINTS SAY

I am not even sure where to start because everything was beyond perfect. Customer service was the best. The entire team took extremely good care of us. We hiked and in one day we saw a lot of chimpanzees in the park. Juma organized it on very short notice and Abbas is very knowledgeable about the park and took us to the best routes. Thanks a lot, guys!

I did a 3-days-2-nights trekking with We Cab Tours in Gombe National park. What can I say? Asante sana! The trip was just super perfect! I saw many chimpanzees (it's not guaranteed for sure because as you know how wildlife is sometimes). BUT I did it in the end of March when officially is off-season and I still saw them. The weather was really good too. Juma, the owner and his employees are super nice people. I always felt safe and understood. Moreover everything was on time what is really rare to get - believe me. I would do it with this organization again for sure! And I will do some other trips when I am again in Tanzania

Juma, thank you for your hospitality and flexibility during our travel to Zanzibar. I had an amazing and beautiful experience because of your team. Your team arrived early at the RUI to pack our luggage in the van and patiently waited until we were ready to leave the hotel as were saying goodbye to our friends we met on the trip. I appreciate the time you took on our last day of the visit in Stone town prior to leaving for the airport. You helped us negotiate our fabrics and clothing so that we received the best price

Juma, Makame, Brendah and the We Cab family were the absolute best! They treated us like family, they were on time for every day we booked. They want out of their way to provide the best experience. When we booked the "scary ferry" ride to Dar es Salem, we were treated to a complimentary upgrade. We missed the stop in Nairobi where we were supposed to give donations to an orphanage and they made sure to find a reputable one in Zanzibar, and had one of their guides Brendah, translate on our behalf. I truly felt more like family than a client. I will definitely return to Zanzibar and use We Cab for all my transportation and tour needs.
