This four-night, five-day journey will lead you to the northern shore of Lake Tanganyika, where you’ll explore one of Tanzania’s smallest national parks, Gombe, a distinctive habitat for chimpanzees. Jane Goodall’s pioneering efforts have captured worldwide interest in the chimpanzees of Gombe, who have become familiar with human presence. In 1960, she initiated a behavioral research program that has evolved into the most enduring study of its type in history. The final remaining member of the original community, Kremlin, who was merely a teenager when Goodall first came to Gombe, continues to be available for visitors to observe.

Day 1: Arrival In Kigoma

Upon arrival, our driver will greet you and transport you to your overnight accommodations. Get ready for your upcoming adventure to Gombe National Park, where you’ll have the chance to observe the famous chimpanzees in their wild environment. Your itinerary includes a delightful two-night stay (48 hours in the park) along with three days of trekking adventures.

Day 2: Kigoma To Gombe National Park

To ensure your arrival at Gombe National Park by midday, you will board the boat at the Aqua Lodge port around 10 a.m. Once you have checked in and fulfilled the park admission requirements, you will have a brief pause for lunch and a short break before setting off on an evening hike. We schedule the walk to begin between 2:00 and 3:30 PM and conclude around 6:00 PM. You will enjoy dinner and spend your first night in Gombe.

Day 3: Full Day In Gombe National Park – Trekking& Beach

The second day will start with an early breakfast, followed by a hike to the Kakombe waterfall and a trek to the chimpanzees’ designated location for the day. Around 1 pm, the second day’s hike will come to a close with a return to the base for lunch and rest. You will spend the evening of the second day relaxing on the beach and possibly swimming at the base.

Day 4: Gombe National Park And Return To Kigoma

The last day in the park will kick off around 8 or 9 a.m., following breakfast. The day will commence with a scenic hike through the hills leading to the chimpanzees’ habitat. Following a couple of hours of exploration and ascent, you’ll make your way back to the starting point, where you can take a break and enjoy lunch before leaving the park around 13 hours later.

Day 5: Departure

Enjoy your breakfast, then connect with your driver for a smooth transfer to Kigoma Airport, ensuring you catch your departure flight back to Dar es Salaam or your next destination. Upon reaching your destination, take a moment to appreciate the amazing experiences and memories created in Kigoma. We greatly appreciate your thoughts on your experience with us. I did a 3-days-2-nights trekking with We Cab Tours in Gombe National park. What can I say? Asante sana! The trip was just super perfect! I saw many chimpanzees (it's not guaranteed for sure because as you know how wildlife is sometimes). BUT I did it in the end of March when officially is off-season and I still saw them. The weather was really good too. Juma, the owner and his employees are super nice people. I always felt safe and understood. Moreover everything was on time what is really rare to get - believe me. I would do it with this organization again for sure! And I will do some other trips when I am again in Tanzania
