You might encounter both bottlenose and humpback dolphins in that area. Dolphins frequent the shallow coastal waters of Kizimkazi, taking advantage of a reliable food source as they nurse their calves, rest, and engage in social activities.

Occasionally, some more reserved humpback dolphins visit this area, but their schedule tends to be less predictable. The ideal time to embark on a dolphin tour is during the morning hours, prior to the sun rising and heating the water. The dolphins gracefully plunge into the depths during the afternoon, seeking refuge from the sweltering heat.The dolphin expedition typically runs for a duration of two to three hours. While dolphin spotting is a beloved activity, it doesn’t always ensure that you’ll see these magnificent creatures. Their natural habitat can make sightings a matter of time and patience.

Kizimkazi boasts the oldest evidence of Islam in East Africa, featuring a mosque constructed in the 12th century. Kizimkzi holds significant cultural and historical value, making it a destination worth exploring.

Itinerary

The dolphin tour in Kizimkazi begins early, before dawn. We’ll pick you up from your hotel very early in the morning. You’ll then take a boat to see these beautiful creatures in their natural habitat. Remember to give them space and avoid disturbing them when taking pictures or swimming with them. After watching the dolphins for a while, you will go back to Kizimkazi for a historical site visit. On the list is the Kizimkazi Mosque, believed to be one of the oldest mosques in East Africa, dating back to the 12th century. Check out the nearby town and ask the locals about their traditions. After the walk, your driver will return you to your hotel before lunch.

I did a 3-days-2-nights trekking with We Cab Tours in Gombe National park. What can I say? Asante sana! The trip was just super perfect! I saw many chimpanzees (it's not guaranteed for sure because as you know how wildlife is sometimes). BUT I did it in the end of March when officially is off-season and I still saw them. The weather was really good too. Juma, the owner and his employees are super nice people. I always felt safe and understood. Moreover everything was on time what is really rare to get - believe me. I would do it with this organization again for sure! And I will do some other trips when I am again in Tanzania
